The Yakima climate experiences all four seasons, althrough spring can sometimes blend with summer depending on the weather patterns. Yakima is considered to be a "high desert" arid climate, and summer temperatures average in the mid to upper 90's, and we experience at least one to two weeks a year of triple digit temperatures mostly in late July through August.
Autumn in Yakima is highly desirable and pleasant with winter not settling in until late November. Winter in Yakima can be extremely cold, and in the higher elevations of the foothills heavy snows can fall. We stay away from training here during the late winter months, largely due to powerful inversions that can leave the valley fogged in for weeks at a time.
