Lead Instructor & Law Enforcement Program Director | Modern Day Sniper

We’re stoked to welcome Landen Jones to the Modern Day Sniper team as a Lead Instructor and Law Enforcement Program Director. With an extensive background in military sniping, law enforcement, and firearms instruction, Landen is dedicated to advancing law enforcement sniper training nationwide.

Landen’s shooting journey began in his childhood, refining his marksmanship skills with air rifles and .22s before pushing the limits of precision with the .22LR and .308WIN. His passion for accuracy led him to enlist in the US Army Infantry out of high school with the goal of becoming a sniper. Within a year, he earned a spot in a Sniper Section, later graduating from the US Army Sniper School at Ft. Benning (now Ft. Moore). He was quickly promoted to Sniper Section Team Leader, deploying to Afghanistan (2009-2010) in that role. Before separating from the Army in 2011, he was responsible for training and certifying multiple snipers.

Following his military service, Landen pursued a degree in Criminal Justice at Eastern Washington University, later becoming a Deputy Sheriff in Washington State. Since 2014, he has served as a Patrol Deputy, Patrol OIC, and Lead Sniper/Instructor for his regional SWAT team, where he also leads firearms training. As a Certified Firearms Instructor with the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) and the National Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors Association (NLEFIA), he has trained and worked alongside local and federal law enforcement agencies.

Landen’s passion for precision rifle instruction and dedication to modernizing LE sniper training align perfectly with the mission of Modern Day Sniper. His real-world experience, instructional expertise, and commitment to evolving law enforcement sniper programs make him a key part of the team. Whether competing in precision rifle matches to refine his craft or mentoring new and experienced snipers, Landen is dedicated to pushing the standards of law enforcement precision shooting.
