Settled into the high desert of eastern Oregon on over 2,000 acres, the Nail Spring Ranch offers a wide array of shooting opportunities, from pistol and carbine ranges, to challenging long ranges with even more variety of field shooting scenarios.
This is our first season of offering open enrollment classes at Nail Spring, and I’m super pumped! Our last experiences there in the summer of 2023 were nothing short of awesome and we’re excited to offer this awesome opportunity to our students now, and into the future.
As an immersion experience, we’ll all be staying at the ranch together, as a class. With that, there’ll be opportunities to participate in group fitness sessions, side-bar conversations and classes after-hours. This is an experience about fellowship and camaraderie to develop both your shooting skills, as well as your own headspace.

This is an all-inclusive immersion experience - we won’t be offering off-site lodging options. You’re either all-in on this one, or it’s just not your jam.
What’s included in the cost of this experience can’t be matched anywhere else. Not only are you going to shoot at a world-class training facility, you’ll be staying in 4-Star accommodations in a brand-new guest lodge. You’ll be eating home-cooked meals for breakfast and dinner - all real, whole foods with huge portions. For lunch, you’re gonna be brown-baggin it, but it’s one boujie brown bag! At the end of the day, enjoy an open-bar of libations (if that’s your style) while you relax in the common area and shoot a couple games of pool.
The ranch boasts a fully-appropriated gym, a classroom with AV equipment, and DoD approved firearm and ammunition storage.
And, if you’ve got the means to use it - Nail Spring has a 2200’ long grass runway.
The Ranges
The ranges that Nail Spring Ranch offers are diverse and challenging. There’s no shortage of wind to be had there, either.
- 0-300 yard Pistol/Carbine/Precision With plenty of steel, you’ll be challenged with any weapon you choose and the conex port houses offer a variety of shooting problems to solve.
- 800 Yard Known Distance Range - With a two-story multi-bay shooting house to keep you protected from the elements, fully appropriated with power for A/V equipment.
- 1600 yard Unknown Distance Range - With a two-story multi-bay shooting house to keep you protected from the elements, fully appropriated with power for A/V equipment.
- Field-Shooting Courses - Multiple Hike n Shoot field shooting ranges to simulate hunting scenarios.
- Intermediate Range Angle Fire - Climb 500’ up to the knob to shoot some angles from 300-1200 yards.
The field-shooting out at Nail Spring Ranch is fantastic - plenty of open spaces and uneven terrain make for challenging shooting positions, deceptive visual problems, and tricky winds.

How to Get There
Driving - If you’re driving in from wherever, you’ll receive the address to the ranch prior to the class. For general travel planning - Bonanza, OR is the closest town.
Flying Commercial - Medford, OR is the closest airport. If you’re planning on flying in we recommend flying into Medford. We’ll organize a shuttle pick-up and drop-off for you at the airport. Other airport options are Reno, NV - however it’s 4 hours away and we’ll require you to provide your own transportation to/from the ranch.
Flying Private - If you’re a pilot and an airplane owner, you can land right in front of the lodge. If you’d like to fly in, let us know and we’ll provide you with the coordinates of the strip.

There’s simply nothing like adapting to a target that has a mind and an intention of its own. Making a successful shot after getting your ass handed to you by Mother Nature for days on end is really where the rubber meets the road. Can you bring it all together when you’re not performing your best? Tired, cold, wet, maybe hungry, and mentally exhausted from the constant focus of compartmentalizing all the things thrown at you, all things that you’ll deal with if you’re in the mountains long enough.
It’s not about how far we can possibly shoot something but discovering how far we can shoot with 100% confidence that matters! That message from Caylen will echo in my head. Thanks again guys, hope to train with you all again this year! - Alex Centner
Taking life is a big responsibility and it’s a heavy, sacred experience. Those who know, know. It’s big medicine and we take it seriously here. Our goal is to prepare you to know your limits of being 100% certain that you can place your bullet EXACTLY where you want it under whatever conditions are present.
“Long range” is a phrase that is highly subjective and fiercely debated amongst the hunting community as a whole. We all know there are plenty of folks out there attempting shots on big game that they truly shouldn’t be. There’s a tremendous disservice done to game animals that stems from gimmicky marketing that generates a false sense of security in ones’ capabilities just because they purchased a miracle solution.
We’re here to tell you that everyone has their own limitations. Those limitations are not dictated by the gear you have, but by the knowledge, experience, and training you have. In this class you’ll learn what really matters when it comes to making high-consequence shots on live targets under both time constraints and widely varying conditions.
You’ll come away from this class with a newfound respect for the capabilities of your equipment and yourself this next hunting season.

Learning Objectives (What you will be capable of executing on your own at the end of the class)
- Demonstrate competency in safe weapons handling skills in close proximity to other shooters.
- Demonstrate the ability to physically set up a rifle to the shooter’s body with Modern Marksmanship Mechanics in mind.
- Demonstrate the ability to rapidly build shooting positions under specified allotments of time and hold at least 2 Minute of Angle accuracy standards.
- Validate a long-range trajectory and demonstrate competence in using a ballistic computer program.
- Demonstrate the ability to precisely hit multiple targets at practical known distances from the prone position with the aid of an observer.
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully employ a laser rangefinder to hit multiple targets with precision at unknown distances from the prone position with the aid of an observer.
