Nail Spring Ranch, OR

Located 45 minutes away from Klamath Falls, the Nail Spring Ranch in Bonanza, Oregon is a shooting destination that is truly on another level.

Check it out here: Nail Spring Ranch

Settled into the high desert of eastern Oregon on over 2,000 acres, the Nail Spring Ranch offers a wide array of shooting opportunities, from pistol and carbine ranges, to challenging long ranges with even more variety of field shooting scenarios.

This is our first season of offering open enrollment classes at Nail Spring, and I’m super pumped! Our last experiences there in the summer of 2023 were nothing short of awesome and we’re excited to offer this awesome opportunity to our students now, and into the future.

As an immersion experience, we’ll all be staying at the ranch together, as a class. With that, there’ll be opportunities to participate in group fitness sessions, side-bar conversations and classes after-hours. This is an experience about fellowship and camaraderie to develop both your shooting skills, as well as your own headspace.

Insane Value

This is an all-inclusive immersion experience - we won’t be offering off-site lodging options. You’re either all-in on this one, or it’s just not your jam.

What’s included in the cost of this experience can’t be matched anywhere else. Not only are you going to shoot at a world-class training facility, you’ll be staying in 4-Star accommodations in a brand-new guest lodge. You’ll be eating home-cooked meals for breakfast and dinner - all real, whole foods with huge portions. For lunch, you’re gonna be brown-baggin it, but it’s one boujie brown bag! At the end of the day, enjoy an open-bar of libations (if that’s your style) while you relax in the common area and shoot a couple games of pool.

The ranch boasts a fully-appropriated gym, a classroom with AV equipment, and DoD approved firearm and ammunition storage.

And, if you’ve got the means to use it - Nail Spring has a 2200’ long grass runway.

The Ranges

The ranges that Nail Spring Ranch offers are diverse and challenging. There’s no shortage of wind to be had there, either.

  1. 0-300 yard Pistol/Carbine/Precision With plenty of steel, you’ll be challenged with any weapon you choose and the conex port houses offer a variety of shooting problems to solve.
  2. 800 Yard Known Distance Range - With a two-story multi-bay shooting house to keep you protected from the elements, fully appropriated with power for A/V equipment.
  3. 1600 yard Unknown Distance Range - With a two-story multi-bay shooting house to keep you protected from the elements, fully appropriated with power for A/V equipment.
  4. Field-Shooting Courses - Multiple Hike n Shoot field shooting ranges to simulate hunting scenarios.
  5. Intermediate Range Angle Fire - Climb 500’ up to the knob to shoot some angles from 300-1200 yards.

The field-shooting out at Nail Spring Ranch is fantastic - plenty of open spaces and uneven terrain make for challenging shooting positions, deceptive visual problems, and tricky winds.

Every hit you get at Nail Spring is a hit you earned.

How to Get There

Driving - If you’re driving in from wherever, you’ll receive the address to the ranch prior to the class. For general travel planning - Bonanza, OR is the closest town.

Flying Commercial - Medford, OR is the closest airport. If you’re planning on flying in we recommend flying into Medford. We’ll organize a shuttle pick-up and drop-off for you at the airport. Other airport options are Reno, NV - however it’s 4 hours away and we’ll require you to provide your own transportation to/from the ranch.

Flying Private - If you’re a pilot and an airplane owner, you can land right in front of the lodge. If you’d like to fly in, let us know and we’ll provide you with the coordinates of the strip.

Nail Spring is an experience you’re not going to want to miss…

About this class

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." – Leonardo da Vinci

After you solidify your understanding of the foundations of marksmanship, the basics of how to predict where your bullet will be in time and space, and how to interpret wind conditions well enough to get your bullets onto your targets, it’s time to step it up a notch.

I’m not a fan of using the word “advanced” when it comes to much of anything. The goal that we’re striving for is to become “unconsciously competent” while we execute the basics. Those basics being tasks such as loading, unloading, identifying and reducing malfunctions, identifying mechanical issues with your precision shooting system, building shooting positions that are fundamentally sound and consistent, and finally delivering shots with control. Once those tasks are submitted to the subconscious mind we can then start increasing our cognitive bandwidth to process more information in the same amount of time, without feeling overwhelmed.

We’re working towards the famous “flow state” of the mind. This is the goal with the Skills Progression Class.

We want everyone to be able to come to this class with the intention of advancing their level of unconscious competence, regardless of where you are on the skills spectrum. Even if you just completed the Intro to Long Range class a couple days prior, you’re going to be able to com to this SKills Progression class and take your newfound skills to the next level. You may be on the upper end of the skills spectrum, perhaps fighting against a plateau that you can’t get over, or you’re looking for a structured approach to coaching. This is where you’ll find it.

No matter what the venue provides us with target sizes, ranges, shooting props, or wind conditions we’ll help you take your skills to the next level with focused shooting drills and expert level coaching. If it’s windy - we’ll work on wind calls and hitting small targets with intention. If it’s calm, we’ll work on alternate shooting positions and teach you how to take control of your mind so you can release every single shot with intention, and control.

We’re here to build on your foundation, refine your motor skills, and teach you how to explore more potential within yourself, by yourself.

The goal? Create a self-sufficient shooter who can operate autonomously, and effectively.
